Facebook Ad Design Tips to Increase Conversions

Are you struggling to create Facebook Ads that convert? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. A lot of business owners find it difficult to create ads that both stand out from the crowd and generate results. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips for creating eye-catching Facebook Ads that get results.

By following these tips, you can create ads that are more likely to convert browsers into buyers! And frankly, you don’t have to be an expert to create eye-catching ads that stop the scroll. With a little bit of planning and creativity, you can create ads that convert browsers into buyers!

Let's Get Started!

Know What Type of Ad Format to Use

Facebook offers several different types of ads, including image, video, link posts with text overlays or CTA buttons. Each one has benefits for different situations and goals. For example, an image ad is great for grabbing attention, while a video ad can be more effective at telling a story that engages the viewer.

When creating your Facebook Ads, you first need to decide what type of ad format will work best for your goal. Do some research into what other businesses in your industry are doing and try out different formats to see which works best for your products or services.

Create a Strong Headline

Your ad headline is one of the most important parts of your ad. It’s what grabs attention and encourages people to stop scrolling and learn more about your product or service.

Make sure your headline is creative, catchy, and relevant to your target audience. You also want to make sure it accurately represents what you’re selling or promoting. Some examples of a strong headline might be: “Try This Product FREE for 30 Days!” or “SAVE 50% ON YOUR NEXT PURCHASE.” For an extra attention grabbing moment try using emoji’s or symbols to make it pop!

Use the Right Image

The image you choose for your ad is just as important as the headline. Some may even argue that It’s even more important! A great picture can grab a reader’s attention and encourage them to click on your link or buy now button, while an unappealing photo may turn people off from clicking at all, some may not even notice it when scrolling by. An attention grabbing image stands out from the crowd.

You can use your own product photos, stock photos or hire a photographer to take custom images for you. Not sure where to find images? Try using free resources like Unsplash or Death to the Stock Photo.

Include a Call to Action

A call to action (CTA) is an essential part of any effective Facebook Ad. A CTA tells the reader what you want them to do, whether it’s clicking on your link, buying your product, or subscribing to your email list or newsletter. Make sure your CTA is clear and easy to understand, and that it matches the goal of your ad. For example, if you’re selling a product, include a “Buy Now” button as your CTA. If you’re trying to get people to sign up for a free trial, use a CTA like “Sign Up Today!”.

Create Compelling Ad Copy

One of the most important aspects of an effective Facebook ad is its copy. The best way to write compelling ad copy for your campaign is by understanding who you’re writing to and how they think about their problem or challenge that needs solving (and why). This means understanding who your target audience is, what their pain points are, and how your product or service can help them is absolutely fundamental.

Keep the copy short and to the point. Make sure to use power words that will encourage the reader to take action. Examples of power words might be; Free, New, Now, Today!

Time to Create Your Ad!

Now that you’ve done all the planning, it’s time to put your knowledge to use and design your ad! If graphic design isn’t your strong suit, utilize free online tools such as Hootsuite Ads or Canva to help you get started. Keep in mind that when it comes to adding text to your images, less is more. Don’t overdo it. If your ad needs lots of explanation, keep that text in the ad copy and not on the image itself.

From the Facebook Ad Copy Guide, you’ll learn that they recommend keeping your text under 140 characters. But just to be safe- always check your image using their overlay tool before submitting an ad campaign with images!

Be sure to use fonts that are easy to read.  You can select them from the drop down menu in Canva, or if you’re using a different design program, there are tons of free fonts available online like Dafont. If you want to use premium fonts such as those found on Creative Market or Etsy make sure to read the fine print on their usage rights and license information before.

Once you have your ad designed, it’s time to submit it for review! Facebook has a few tips on their website about how to make sure your ad is approved the first time. Be sure to follow all of their guidelines and suggestions or your ad may not be approved.

Test Your Ad Campaign

You’ll want to test out your ad campaign and see what works best for you. This can be done by creating multiple versions of the same ads with different images or headlines. From there you can track the results and see which one is getting more engagement than others (which could mean more clicks on your link, comments, views or purchases of products). You can also try out different types of ads such as image vs. video and see which one works better for your campaign.
